Field Trip Planner
We are delighted that you have planned a visit to Historic St. Mary’s City. Our goal is to make your visit educationally rewarding and fun for you and your students. To make your visit run smoothly, please review the Field Trip Planner and share it with all of the teachers and chaperones from your school who will be participating in your field trip.
The Field Trip Planner contains a wealth of information including:
- How to get to Historic St. Mary’s City and estimated travel times.
- How to check in at the
- Pre-visit and post-visit activities for the classroom.
- An idea of your day’s itinerary.
- How to order Goody Bags.
- Emergency information.
- A glossary.
There are separate Planners for elementary school and middle and high school groups.

Both are offered as portable document files (pdf). If you do not have Adobe Reader, please use the link below to download a free copy.
There are two ways to navigate through the ftp files:
- Use the bookmarks function. If bookmarks are not visible open them by clicking View>Navigation Panels>Bookmarks. Click a chapter title to move to a specific chapter. Note that page numbers of each chapter are listed by each bookmark .
- Use links in the Table of Contents on page 1. Click on a chapter title to move to that chapter.
You are free to print any portion or all of the Planner . If you are interested in printing specific chapters, use the page numbers following each bookmark to set the Page Range in the Print Options.
